PAUL ACKET AWARD

The Paul Acket Award is presented to an artist deserving wider recognition for their extraordinary musicianship. With this prize, North Sea Jazz wants to present talented jazz musicians who are at the beginning of their career.

They are already known and very much respected within the jazz scene, but not yet recognized by a wide audience. The winner of the Paul Acket Award 2011 is Norwegian trumpeter Arve Henriksen. He played with hardrock band Motorpsycho and recorded with David Sylvian. He also made his own album Cartography on the ECM label. Arve Henriksen will perform at the North Sea Jazz festival with Jan Bang and Ingar Zach on Saturday July 9.
